The selection and use of color masterbatch are not only related to the coloring effect of plastic products, but also directly affect the overall quality and performance of the products, and need to be controlled from multiple dimensions. Firstly, substrate matching is the core of selection: different plastic substrates have different melting temperatures, crystallinity, and flowability. The carrier resin of color masterbatch must be consistent or compatible with the substrate. For example, PE substrate needs to choose PE carrier color masterbatch, PP substrate corresponds to PP carrier color masterbatch, and PVC pipe material needs to use PVC specific color masterbatch. If the carrier is not matched, it will cause uneven pigment dispersion, color difference, layering of the product, and even affect the melt flowability, resulting in processing difficulties. Secondly, the selection of pigment types should be based on the intended use of the product: organic pigments have bright colors and strong coloring power, suitable for injection molded parts and blow molded products that require high color saturation; Inorganic pigments (such as titanium dioxide and carbon black) have excellent weather resistance and heat resistance, making them suitable for outdoor use in pipes, roll pressed films, and products that require high-temperature processing. Furthermore, the dispersibility of color masterbatch is crucial. By adding efficient dispersants, high-quality color masterbatch can evenly disperse pigment particles in the carrier resin, avoiding the appearance of "color spots" and "color lines". Especially in products with high appearance requirements such as films and thin-walled injection molded parts, dispersibility directly determines the product qualification rate. During use, the addition ratio needs to be precisely controlled. A ratio that is too low can result in lighter colors and insufficient coverage, while a ratio that is too high can increase costs and may affect the toughness and glossiness of plastic products; At the same time, the color masterbatch needs to be thoroughly mixed with the substrate, which can be achieved by pre mixing or setting a reasonable screw temperature and speed in the extruder to ensure uniform mixing. In addition, storage conditions can also affect the performance of color masterbatch. It should be sealed and stored in a dry and ventilated environment to avoid moisture and clumping. If clumping occurs, it should be crushed before use to prevent affecting processing and coloring effects.
